Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Will Miss The Rest Of The 2023 Season After Suffering A Torn Acl In Thursdays Loss To The Baltimore Ravens

Burrow Out for the Rest of the Season

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will miss the rest of the 2023 season after suffering a torn ACL in Thursday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter when Burrow was sacked by Ravens linebacker Odafe Oweh. Burrow immediately grabbed his left knee and was helped off the field.

The Bengals announced the results of Burrow's MRI on Friday morning. The team said that Burrow will undergo surgery to repair the torn ACL. The recovery time for an ACL tear is typically 9-12 months, which would sideline Burrow for the entire 2023 season.

The loss of Burrow is a major blow to the Bengals. Burrow is one of the most talented young quarterbacks in the NFL, and he was having a breakout season in 2023. He had thrown for 3,488 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 10 games. The Bengals were 8-2 with Burrow as the starting quarterback this season.

With Burrow out for the season, the Bengals will turn to backup quarterback Brandon Allen. Allen has started two games in his career, both in 2020. He has thrown for 411 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in those two games.

The Bengals are still in contention for a playoff spot, but the loss of Burrow makes their chances much more difficult. The Bengals are now 8-3 and in second place in the AFC North. They trail the Baltimore Ravens by one game.
